Colégio Albert Sabin (Albert Sabin College), founded in 1993 and located in Parque dos Príncipes, on the West side of São Paulo, aims to educate by developing the personality through dynamic, constantly updated, and humanistic pedagogical actions, with the aim of forming globalized citizens capable of contributing to the evolution of society.
To this end, it has established four pillars that meet the desire to teach through opportunities: quality of life; fluency in a second language; conditions of access to higher education, and the delight of parents and students.
A total of 350 employees and 9,000 clients – students, parents, and coworkers – are some of the figures for Colégio Albert Sabin, a kindergarten to high school founded in 1993 in the city of São Paulo, named after the Polish doctor Albert Sabin, creator of the polio vaccine.
The school's differentials range from extensive extracurricular activities, such as soccer, basketball, handball, volleyball, swimming, ballet, artistic gymnastics, judo, chess, theater in Portuguese and English, choir and foreign languages, to activities based on raising awareness of citizenship and the importance of each person in contributing to the progress of society.

According to Colégio Albert Sabin's IT Manager, Rogerio Jorgini, the school's IT infrastructure needed special attention, as there were constant communication link outages during non-working hours – such as in the early hours of the morning and at weekends – as well as continuous server failures for critical applications such as ERPs. These outages compromised services that needed to be available at all times for students and staff to consult.
Faced with this problem, the IT department realized that it would be necessary to acquire network monitoring software, due to the need for rapid responses, especially to internet links. After a period of market research to see what would be the best option for the school, the IT department opted for PRTG Network Monitor, Paessler’s network monitoring software, because it was more cost-effective than its competitors.
“PRTG is used to monitor the IT infrastructure at Colégio Albert Sabin. Our aim is to consolidate an image of trust with both internal and external customers. Paessler's software is essential in this process, as it added value to our project,” says Rogério Jorgini.
PRTG is used to monitor servers, switches, routers, links, websites, and services such as email and web services. A total of approximately 480 sensors were configured, including SNMP, WMI, HTTP, SSH, and Ping sensors.

Jorgini also highlights the main feature of PRTG as the fact that the software sends preventive alerts with a description of the affected service. “PRTG helped us solve IT problems by providing reliable alarms and enabling the IT department to be more proactive and anticipate possible system failures, with a positive impact on the quality of the service provided.”
Another positive effect was the reduction in costs for the school. PRTG has generated financial savings of 10%, since the solution has reduced the volume of technical support requests by approximately 80%, due to the prompt response in the event of system failures.
“In addition to all these benefits that have improved the quality of our service and reduced our IT expenses, PRTG is also an excellent tool when it comes to doing business, as it allows us to compare the demand and capacity for using links with the level of service provided by service providers. This feature has allowed us to reduce costs with operators and also to establish a forecast for increased use of resources, according to our needs. However, the biggest reduction really lies in the perceived gain in incident response time,” Jorgini explains.
