Trasmed is a shipping company operating passenger and cargo services between the ports of Barcelona, Valencia, and the Balearic Islands under the Grimaldi Group, with five owned vessels and one chartered.
As Trasmed integrates more technology into its fleet, monitoring becomes a safety question. A failure of a critical IT or OT system does not just disrupt service: in the worst case, it jeopardizes the safe operation of the entire vessel.
Ships are isolated environments. When a problem occurs, physical access is difficult. The team needed real-time visibility across all vessel systems, accessible from anywhere.
Working with Paessler partner Nunsys, Trasmed deployed PRTG across its fleet. PRTG now monitors all critical IT and OT elements on board each vessel in a single unified platform.
Real-time alerts detect anomalies before they affect vessel performance or safety. Because issues surface early, the team can act preventively rather than reactively, reducing the risk of escalation at sea.
The PRTG mobile app gives the IT team access to vessel system status from a smartphone. This is especially valuable when shore-based staff need to assess the situation remotely before any physical intervention is possible.
PRTG brings unified, real-time monitoring to maritime environments with the same depth it delivers on land.
The advantage of implementing PRTG is obvious: It allows us to always have a real-time view of the operation of the ship's critical systems. Everything is unified in a single tool that enables us to monitor these systems and even be able to have all this in a simple mobile phone.
