There are three different PRTG products, including PRTG Hosted Monitor, which is hosted by Paessler in the cloud, and PRTG Network Monitor, which requires an on-premises server installation. What do PRTG Hosted Monitor and PRTG Network Monitor have in common?
Both PRTG Hosted Monitor and PRTG Network Monitor are feature-rich monitoring solutions. They monitor your entire infrastructure. This gives you a complete overview of traffic, bandwidth, availability, resources, and CPU load, to name just a few. Both products support various vendors such as Cisco, Dell, HPE, IBM, NetApp, Amazon, VMware, Citrix, Oracle, and many more.
Monitoring covers all areas of your IT infrastructure, including:

The hosted solution: PRTG Hosted Monitor
With PRTG Hosted Monitor, Paessler takes over the hosting of your PRTG instances on reliable AWS servers for you. You can choose the region in which you want the servers to be located. The cloud-based product is suitable for MSPs (Managed Service Providers), among others, who take over and manage IT on behalf of their customers. With PRTG Hosted Monitor as an SaaS solution, MSPs remain flexible: they can upgrade or downgrade their monthly, annual, or multi-year subscription plans at any time.
The on-premises solution: PRTG Network Monitor
PRTG Network Monitor is a locally installed monitoring solution. You take care of the hosting and need a dedicated server in your network. PRTG Network Monitor is suitable for small to medium-sized businesses where small IT teams or individual administrators take care of the monitoring. All PRTG Network Monitor licenses are available as subscriptions, paid annually.

What are the benefits of cloud-based software?
No dedicated hardware required
You don't need your own data center for PRTG Hosted Monitor. This pays off for you: With cloud-based monitoring, you don't have to buy any additional hardware or provide a server with sufficient capacity.
Instantly ready for use
As you don't install the hosted edition of PRTG yourself, the subscription-based monitoring solution is ready to go out of the box. This means that there is no time or effort required to set up and configure the software. Your IT team can start monitoring from the browser right away.
Highly available monitoring
You benefit from highly available monitoring. As Paessler provides the servers for hosting, a different server can be used immediately as a replacement in the event of a server failure. This means that you do not need to provide another server with subscription-based monitoring. There is no downtime and your operations and processes are not disrupted.
No administrative effort
Paessler also takes care of the administration of the monitoring solution for you. You automatically receive the latest software versions with new features and improvements.
