Physical security monitoring
Provide for physical security with PRTG
PRTG Network Monitor keeps an eye on both the security of your IT systems and the physical security of your company.
It comes with sensors that let you monitor critical areas such as the server room, production hall, and open-plan office.
Why physical security monitoring is a must
Most companies don’t think twice about securing their IT systems against hackers. But when it comes to the physical security of their computers, they often let things slide. Nevertheless, monitoring the premises and preventing hazards such as fires and water damage should also be a top priority.
PRTG consolidates data from sensors and surveillance cameras onto an easy-to-read dashboard. If something goes wrong, the software notifies you at once. As a result, you can often prevent errors and damage before they even arise.
Monitor your CCTV systems with PRTG
When it comes to CCTV systems, physical security is dependent upon the proper functioning of the cameras.
CCTV system failures can cause serious security problems.
PRTG helps to prevent downtime, all the while ensuring optimal performance and usability.
PRTG monitors all aspects
of video surveillance
CCTV systems are made up of several components, including cameras, video recorders, memory systems, power supplies, and network and data transmission systems. All these components must work properly for video surveillance to be a success. PRTG monitors the status of these components around the clock.
CCTV components are often spread out across several networks or locations. PRTG lets you merge the data from individual networks onto an intuitive and user-friendly dashboard.
View all the data from
your CCTV system
PRTG comes with attractive, custom HTML maps that let you review all your CCTV system data within a matter of minutes. Highlight floor plans as background images, images from your cameras, or the status and performance data of certain components.
Kentix sensors for optimal physical security
Kentix offers special sensors that keep a constant eye on the infrastructure of your company. Kentix MultiSensor technology detects many hazards
at once while continuously monitoring motion data and environmental data such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, and voltage.
Here are a few examples of buildings made safe by way of Kentix and PRTG:
4-factor early fire detection
in data centers
Fires in data centers are usually caused by electrical hazards such as excess currents, improper insulation, and inadequate maintenance.
In most cases, these fires develop gradually over the course of several hours or even days. To prevent them (or simply expose a glitch in the system), you need sensors that are specially equipped to detect the early warning signs of a fire. The Kentix MultiSensor-TI is designed with a thermal image sensor, an air quality (VOC) sensor, a carbon monoxide (CO) sensor, and a temperature sensor to continuously monitor these signs.
The MultiSensor-TI also comes with all the usual features for monitoring humidity and detecting vandalism or burglaries.
With Kentix DoorLock, you can control access to vulnerable areas (such as data centers) remotely by way of various wireless and non-wireless locking devices. You can also use the same system to monitor access to the server racks in your data center and thus protect your IT components from unauthorized access.
Simple integration into
PRTG via SNMP
You can use SNMP to integrate all Kentix sensors into PRTG. The easiest way is to open the PRTG MIB Importer and add the data from the Kentix AlarmManager to PRTG.
Learn more about how to integrate the Kentix AlarmManager into PRTG here.
All key physical security monitoring data is displayed on one centralized dashboard.
PRTG immediately notifies you in the event of hazards or if your threshold values are exceeded.
Why PRTG is the ultimate physical
security monitoring tool
CCTV cameras, temperature sensors, Kentix MultiSensors...PRTG is all-inclusive software that works with all kinds of devices. It not only keeps an eye on traditional IT components such as servers, virtual machines, and routers, but also provides data on the physical surroundings that keep your network secure.
PRTG Network Monitor is designed for optimal usability. It is easy to set up and comes with a sleek and intuitive interface.
In the event of a malfunction, PRTG alerts you via all the usual notification methods. You can also define the thresholds for each of your monitored values. If one of these values falls below or exceeds its threshold, you'll immediately be alarmed by email, push notification, or SMS. You can also specify that a specific action take place, such as the rebooting of a device.
