New Sensor Types Improve Global Cloud Management and Support Unified Monitoring

Wakefield, Mass. and Nuremberg, Germany - April 20, 2015 - Paessler AG, the innovative network monitoring specialist, today announced that the company will unveil new sensor types for its PRTG Network Monitor and expand availability of Push Notifications at Interop Las Vegas. Paessler will be exhibiting from April 28-30 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center (booth #2142). These new capabilities can help organizations of all sizes unify their monitoring activities for a holistic view of enterprise networks, regardless of network size or the number of locations or devices monitored.

There are two new sensor types (measuring points) available, designed to improve cloud monitoring for global organizations:

  • Cloud HTTP sensor - monitors the loading time of web servers from various locations worldwide via HTTP using the PRTG cloud
  • Cloud Ping sensor - monitors the ping time to a target device from various locations worldwide using PRTG cloud

In addition, Paessler has expanded the availability of its mobile apps, with Push Notifications now supported for Windows Phone in addition to iOS and Android. In a recent survey of 648 Paessler customers, 49 percent of respondents said that they access PRTG using mobile devices, showing the rising importance of mobile access among network administrators. According to SuperSite For Windows, there are more than 50 million Windows Phone users, which will likely expand PRTG's mobile user base.

"The cloud continues to be a key driver of global IT systems, and our customer research shows that mobility is an important need among network and system administrators," said Christian Twardawa, COO of Paessler. "Our new Cloud HTTP and Cloud Ping sensors will help network administrators to harness the power of the cloud in their IT systems while monitoring network servers and devices - through the cloud - faster and more easily than ever before."
