IPCheck Server Monitor Version 5 Released

Fuerth, Germany – June 20, 2005 – Paessler today announced the immediate availability of IPCheck Server Monitor 5.0. The Windows-based software makes it easy and affordable to detect network and website failures early, minimizing downtime and avoiding economic impact. New reporting features, additional sensor types and an improved user interface provide extended functionality and fulfill users’ most requested features. A new mobile interface for PocketPC handhelds allows the status of the sensors to be reviewed on the go.

IPCheck is now also available in an internet service provider (ISP) version that enables ISPs to offer network monitoring as a hosted service for their customers.

Paul Schandel, systems administrator for Santa Clara University, says they have experienced a variety of unanticipated benefits by using the server monitoring software. "Weekly reports with the uptime of each server are wonderful," he said. "I was delighted when I saw that, and instantly sent the report off to the director of our department, who was thrilled. Of course he wanted even more reports, but was just as happy to see that it did such a thing."

Because of the monitoring using IPCheck’s content level checking, Schandel’s department was also able to identify when other services outside the web server were crashing and causing an indirect outage. "It has helped by letting us know of problems in a more timely fashion, and before the end users see the problem," said Schandel. "It has also helped by giving us more uptime , better service to the user, and giving my department a better image. For the dollar I don’t believe there is a more effective product for service monitoring," he said. "Recently, we upgraded to the latest version of What’s Up. I asked the question, ‘can you properly do SSL checks yet?’ The answer was no. I don’t think we’ll ever leave IPCheck."

"IPCheck Server Monitor is one of our most popular solutions and we’ve tried to include as many user requests as possible in this new version." said Dirk Paessler, CEO of Paessler. "The new reporting and monitoring features, along with native user interfaces for several platforms (web browser, Windows, Pocket PC) make network management even easier for our customers."

User interface improvements include an improved Web interface with enhanced functionality. New native sensor types for MS SQL, Oracle and MySQL database servers are now included. New HTML email reports show detailed uptime and downtime stats for each sensor, and can be configured to be mailed daily/weekly/monthly or on demand. Improved graphs of historical data easily allow the users to see trends in the network.

IPCheck Server Monitor software is available for download at www.paessler.com/ipcheck in a freeware version that may be used for free for personal and non-commercial use. Free trial license keys to evaluate the complete functionality for 30 days are available from the Paessler Website. Full licenses are available starting at USD$99.
