136-room five-star hotel, IT team of 6, 24/7 operations
The Ritz London is one of the world's most recognized luxury hotels, with 136 rooms and suites, a Michelin-starred restaurant, and a 24/7 operation. An IT team of six maintains constant visibility over the hotel's network, IT systems, building infrastructure, and cameras.
Previous monitoring tools were either too hard to configure, difficult to maintain, or lacked the features to monitor the hotel's more complex systems.
The team needed a feature-rich, Windows Server-compatible solution covering IT and building systems together.
PRTG was trialed first and quickly adopted. Paessler's documentation meant the team configured everything without a single support case.
One early discovery: air conditioning was failing more often than expected. Before PRTG, a server had already been damaged by overheating. Now temperature alerts escalate instantly to a 24/7 on-site maintenance team via email and Telegram, with the exact fault location included.
PRTG revealed traffic patterns during peak network periods, allowing backup jobs to be rescheduled accordingly.
Resource utilization data from PRTG now builds the business case for further investment in cameras, access control, and infrastructure.
PRTG alerts are extremely useful and give us a heads up on potential issues before they escalate. This has allowed us to be more proactive, as opposed to being reactive. I would recommend PRTG because it has helped us significantly improve service uptime by highlighting important alerts that would otherwise result in a system failure or service disruption if action was not taken. Thanks to PRTG, we can ensure that The Ritz London’s network and IT systems are five-star, just like the hotel.
