EFS (Établissement français du sang) is France's sole civil operator of blood transfusion. Every day, 10,000 blood donations are collected and distributed to hospitals, sometimes at extremely short notice. IT failures are not an option.
The Grand Est region merged several formerly independent EFS sites, each with its own infrastructure. A 12-person IT team had to oversee servers, switches, routers, UPS systems, telephony, cameras, and backup servers across 14 locations.
Monitoring was fragmented. The team needed one tool to cover everything proactively.
PRTG became the central monitoring platform across all 14 sites. Sensors cover Windows and Linux servers, network devices, business applications, building systems, and backup infrastructure. Everything that can be monitored is monitored.
The mobile app gives the IT lead immediate visibility outside office hours. Each morning, a quick check confirms overnight status. On-call shifts are covered by push notifications, so the team can respond fast.
PRTG maps and dashboards deliver real-time end-to-end visibility. Results can be shared directly with business departments, reducing time spent communicating status to non-technical stakeholders.
sFlow monitoring flags the heaviest bandwidth users and traffic anomalies before they affect operations. Automation scripts handle workflows like access rights, reducing manual effort.
The software quickly won me over with its ease of use. Compared to the tedious configuration of freeware, it was like night and day, so it made sense to use it at all our 14 sites in Eastern France.
