Permanent Monitoring of All Critical Network Resources
Network monitoring tool from Paessler now with new functions
Nuremberg, Germany - Dec 17, 2007 - Paessler AG, specialist and solution provider for network monitoring tools, has enhanced IPCheck Server Monitor with additional useful functions and optimization of existing features. For example, the "Add New Sensor" area has been significantly simplified and WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) sensors have been introduced.
IPCheck Server Monitor efficiently and quickly discloses problems in the network. The Windows application permanently monitors all critical network resources, immediately detects system outages or bottlenecks, and alerts administrators.
New features for more comfort and simple use
IPCheck runs efficiently and effectively on Microsoft Windows Vista systems. The current version features WMI sensors polls specific information about Windows applications and systems: for instance which drives are available, which utility programmes are in operation, and the current processor utilization, and so on. Additionally pre-defined sensors are available, monitoring frequently polled units according to experience (CPU load, free RAM, free disk space etcetera.). A newly integrated 'General WMI Query' sensor provides for arbitrary inquiries to the WMI interface. Furthermore, the administration effort to set up multiple sensors in one go for remotely monitoring computers has been optimized. Values once entered under "Add New Sensor" such as domain, user name, or computer name are automatically proposed and only have to be confirmed.
Overall network monitoring from one centralized location
Unlike many monitoring tools that only provide for monitoring of the LAN network in which they are installed IPCheck Server Monitor also enables monitoring remote and topologically different networks such as those located in subsidiaries or branch offices connected to the LAN via VPN. By using so called remote probes a comprehensive monitoring is ensured without difficulty even if firewalls or the open Internet have to be passed for monitoring purposes. For this the remote probes are easily installed and configured on a computer within the network to be monitored. The centralized IPCheck installation subsequently uses this monitoring point for monitoring while the data exchange is secured with blowfish encryption. The remote probe installation software is available at Paessler for free download or respectively is part of the IPCheck installation.
