4. What about reporting?
PRTG is able to create and/or store reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis for selected sensors. You can configure the reports to be sent to you as a PDF via email or have them stored on the hard drive. Additionally, you can interactively run a report in the web browser (in HTML format). You also can have the reports generated according to a schedule, for example every Monday. There are various templates available that include different sets of data tables and graphs. Check the PRTG features and the Manual.
5. Does PRTG Enterprise Monitor support notifications and alarms?
PRTG Enterprise Monitor offers several means of notification. The most commonly used methods are sending emails or SMS, starting an executable file, sending Syslog messages, playing sounds, or adding entries to the Windows event log, among others. PRTG even includes push notifications to Android and iOS devices for free! Furthermore, you can configure notification schedules so that you (or your staff) won't be alerted in the middle of the night for failures of less important servers. You can define numerous conditions for notifications – not only if a sensor is down – but also if the traffic on a certain interface hits a limit over a certain time, and much more.
6. What about multiple locations, user accounts, and user rights?
IT teams are often distributed across multiple data centers, offices, legal entities, business units, or areas of responsibility, each with their own team. With PRTG Enterprise Monitor, you can easily monitor your locations separately or on one map for a centralized overview. Additionally, PRTG Enterprise Monitor offers multi-tenancy so that every team can access their own work space and dashboards if needed!
There are various account types in PRTG, for example read-only users and read/write users. Furthermore, you can configure the access rights for every group, device, or sensor to control what users are allowed to see or edit. These settings are automatically inherited in the device tree so that it is not necessary to edit the access rights of every sensor individually.
7. Can I monitor my IT services and business processes?
Yes, you can. We understand that the larger the IT environment is, the more complex it is to manage. So we offer two options for getting an overview: PRTG Desktop or the ITOps Board, which is exclusive to Paessler PRTG Enterprise Monitor. The ITOps Board gathers, correlates, and organizes alerts and notifications from one or more PRTG servers, creating a business service-oriented view of your network and infrastructure. It creates dependency diagrams, clear and focused dashboards, and automated incident workflows. This way, you can easily model and track SLAs based on your business processes.
8. How often are updates released?
Our team works in two-to-three-week cycles, delivering updates within each period that improve the application. This continuous rollout enables Paessler to release new features quickly. The updates are available to all clients with an active maintenance contract and can be obtained via the automatic update built in to PRTG or via logging in to the customer service center.
9. How does it scale with large networks?
Larger setups often create higher loads on monitoring solutions. Performance problems can lead to falsified monitoring results and annoyed users, which may increase the risk of failures and outages. PRTG is built to deal with this kind of load and offers best practice strategies to avoid performance issues.
1. How long is the subscription period?
Paessler starts with a 1-year subscription period. Longer subscription periods are available upon request.
2. What are the payment options?
The invoice amount for the entire contract period is due at the beginning of the respective subscription period. In the case of payment by credit card, the amount is payable immediately. In the case of purchase on account, the amount is payable within 30 days after invoicing.
3. How is a subscription renewed?
You are contacted in advance of the subscription expiration via email and/or by a representative. The subscription period will be renewed automatically. Additionally, you may reach out to your representative to discuss renewals and changes in your environments that may impact subscription usage.
4. How does a subscription differ from a perpetual license?
In comparison to a perpetual license, a PRTG Enterprise Monitor subscription will always give you access to the latest updates, which include new features, numerous improvements, and bug fixes.
5. How do I benefit from a subscription?
With PRTG Enterprise Monitor, you get the latest enterprise-ready monitoring software, trusted knowledge, product security, and technical support. A subscription delivers value during each stage of your IT journey and empowers IT teams to gain visibility and control of their increasingly complex infrastructures.

The Paessler PRTG Enterprise Monitor subscription will turn into a Freeware Edition at the end of the term of the respective individual contract.
7. What if I prefer a perpetual license?
