Paessler SNMP Helper was a software that enabled network monitoring software like PRTG Network Monitor to collect in-depth performance information from Windows servers and workstations. In March 2009 it has been discontinued as a genuine Paessler product.
Customers who purchased SNMP Helper from us in the past, can use SNMP Helper also with the newest version 7.1. PRTG will automatically detect the OIDLIBs.
If you want to purchase new licenses or migrate to newer Editions, please visit SNMP Informant which is the original product that SNMP Helper was built on. The vendor Informant Systems will also provide support for customers of SNMP Helper.
SNMP Informant is available in a Freeware Edition as well as several paid-for editions. The following paid-for editions are available:
Note: Customers who have bought SNMP Helper licenses from Paessler are still able to get their license keys and downloads from their login on the Paessler website.
To monitor servers that have SNMP Informant installed with PRTG Network Monitor you need so-called OIDLIBs. OIDLIBs are pre-compiled MIB files that contain information about available monitoring parameters. You can create OIDLIBs yourself by downloading the MIB files from the SNMP Informant website and compiling them using Paessler's MIB Importer or you can download a set of precompiled OIDLIBs below.
The OIDLIB files must be placed into the following folders:
For each SNMP Informant module there are one or more OIDLIB files. As soon as PRTG finds OIDLIBs in this folder you will be able to create SNMP Informant sensors. When you choose "Add Sensor" from the menu you will see the selection shown in the screen shot. Choose the desired OIDLIB and continue creating the sensor(s) as usual.
The download is available here (3 MB, created March 2009).
