Do you use Veeam for your VMware backups, and you’re looking for more accurate data for the reports, as well as for improved alerting options? The VMware expert Markus Kraus has published and described two scripts on his blog "My Cloud-(R)Evolution", which can be integrated as sensors in PRTG Network Monitor.

This allows you to link the comprehensive alerting capabilities of PRTG with a very detailed monitoring of Veeam backups and replication. Markus Kraus offers his sensor free of charge in two versions:

With the links above you will find detailed instructions in German for the use of the sensors, as well as the sensors for download.

With the second version (without the Veeam Enterprise Server) there is still a small hurdle to take: The Veeam PowerShell plug-in requires a 64-bit environment, while the PRTG probe runs scripts only in 32-bit. Here a small tool called PSx64 can help, which can also be downloaded free of charge from the PRTG Tools Family.

You can also find the article and the sensors directly on Markus Kraus’ blog.
