How to move an installation of IPCheck Server Monitor

If you need to install IPCheck Server Monitor onto a new PC, or you have to re-install IPCheck Server Monitor for some reason, you do not need to go through the hassle of recreating all your network's devices and sensors. This is what you need to do:

  1. Make copies of the files ipcheck.fdb and ipcbackup.fdb.
  2. Make a copy of the directory "Monitoring Database" and its contents.
  3. If you reinstall on the same system save the registry key (HKLM/software/paessler/ipcheck) with all subkey into a .reg file using regedit (or write down all settings from the control panel)
  4. Install IPCheck Server Monitor onto the new computer. (Or re-install IPCheck onto the hard drive that you have reformatted.)
  5. After installation stop all IPCheck servcies
  6. Replace ipcheck.fdb and ipcbackup.fdb files, and the "Monitoring Database" directory with the back-up versions that you made earlier.
  7. If you are moving your old IPCheck settings to a new system, open the Admin Control Panel on both the old and new PC systems, and make any necessary changes to the settings on the various tabs for the new system to match those of the old system.
  8. If you reinstall on the same system either transfer the settings manually or import the .reg file created earlier
  9. Start IPCheck Server Monitor on the new system -- its services should then function identically to that of the old system that ran IPCheck.
