The HELP function of my Paessler product does not work on Vista or Longhorn

For the new operating systems Microsoft Vista and Microsoft Server Code Name "Longhorn" the developers at Microsoft have decided to drop the support for WinHelp (*.hlp) files.

Since some older versions of Paessler products (released before fall 2006) include their online help in form of HLP-files their online help can't be opened on the two new operating systems.

There are two possible solutions:

  • If there is an update available for your license please download and install the latest update from Paessler (www.paessler.com/download)
  • Microsoft has announced a download for a stand-alone Winhelp viewer that will enable the new operating systems to view HLP files. The viewer will be released some time after the release of Microsoft Vista. Please check the following link to the Microsoft Knowledgebase for updated details: Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) is no longer included with Windows
