- Overview: Version 7.1 is a major update for PRTG. It includes many new features as well as performance and stability improvements. This update is strongly recommended for all users of previous versions.
- Improved Web Interface:
- New: Massive speed improvements on all browser platforms
- New: Groups, devices, and sensors can now be moved using drag&drop
- New: Quick edit tools and live graphs pop up when mouse pointer hovers over an object
- New: Improved object selection (e.g. for maps, dependencies)

- Automatic Probe Updating for Remote Probes:
- Whenever a new version of PRTG is installed on the core server all remote probes will automatically download and install the updated version of the probe as soon as they reconnect to the updated core (see blog entry "Automatic Probe Updating")
- When updating from V 7.0.x to V7.1 you must update all remote probes manually for the last time

- Sensor Factory is the successor to the "Aggregation Sensor" in PRTG 6 (see blog entry "The Sensor Factory")
- HTTP Full Page Sensor (uses an instance of Internet Explorer to measure download time for a webpage including all page elements)
- SMTP&POP3/IMAP Email Round Trip Sensor (sends an email by SMTP and measures the time until it reaches a POP3/IMAP inbox, see blog entry "Email Round Trip Monitoring")
- HDD Health Sensor (uses SMART feature for IDE disk drives to measure drive temperature, drive failures, etc.)
- Custom EXE sensor for load testing of available CPU and disk resources (computes 1 Mio primes or reads/writes 1000 files)
