New PRTG v8.2 Offers Super-Charged Network Monitoring to Enhance IT Efficiency

PRTG v8.2 offers a new turbo-charged database system for access to log files, ToDo lists and Toplists up to 300 times faster than previous versions. Where other monitoring solutions use off-the-shelf databases to store data, the well-proven PRTG database format is specifically designed by Paessler for storage of network monitoring data and now used throughout all databases to make network monitoring and data analysis faster and easier for administrators.

The improved performance in PRTG v8.2 is enhanced with upgraded auto-discovery, now including template support for almost all sensor types, with predefined sensor settings to speed discovery and setup of new devices in the monitored environment. The addition of three new sensor types enables monitoring of DHCP servers, VMware ESX(i) discs via SSH and traffic flow over jFlow-capable devices. With the addition of jFlow, together with PRTG's existing NetFlow and sFlow sensors, the software is now able to monitor bandwidth usage on most common Juniper, Cisco and HP hardware. Ping and port sensors have also been optimized to better meet customer needs.
