Paessler Launches New Router Traffic Grapher Solutions
Paessler Router Traffic Grapher V3 released
Fuerth, Germany – Sept. 2, 2003--Paessler today announced the immediate availability of Paessler Router Traffic Grapher (PRTG) version 2.0. PRTG monitors network bandwidth, server memory or server central processing unit (CPU) usage, providing system administrators with daily, weekly and hourly data to optimize routers, firewalls, servers and other Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) enabled network components.
Since most security and virus events imply sudden changes in bandwidth or CPU usage, monitoring the network activity with PRTG can help stop or limit security breaches. For example, many organizations first recognized the severity of the recent outbreak of the Sobig.F worm by a strong increase in Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) traffic on their leased lines. Changes in network traffic are often the first indicators of possible network problems.
Functionality including live visual traffic representations is now available in a product that is simple to install and use in a Windows environment. PRTG does not require Perl binaries or complicated configuration file edits.
"Viewing data about network usage no longer requires specialized know-how," said Dirk Paessler, CEO of Paessler GmbH. "PRTG is easy to install and use, making it possible for average computer users to protect and optimize their network just as advanced users and programmers can."
PRTG results may be viewed either via a Windows interface or Web pages constantly updated by PRTG. Sample reports may be viewed at http://mail.paessler.com/prtg/html/index.htm. PRTG is available in both a Freeware edition and a Professional edition that provides monitoring for several network devices and multiple ports simultaneously. PRTG works with most routers and firewalls, including systems from Cisco, Draytek, Bintex or LANCOM and Windows servers. PRTG also operates with most other SNMP-enabled devices.
The fully functional freeware version of PRTG can be downloaded free of charge at: http://www.paessler.com. The upgrade to the Professional Edition for multi-port and multi-device monitoring is available starting at US $49.95.
