New Tool For Testing sFlow Monitoring Setups
Paessler Expands Its Freeware Toolkit For System Administrators
Los Angeles, CA and Nuremberg, Germany (March 31, 2011) - Paessler AG, the innovative network monitoring solutions specialist, today announced a new freeware tool to enrich its network monitoring solution, PRTG. The sFlow Tester helps administrators configure sFlow-based bandwidth monitoring, thus helping them to analyze and debug sFlow monitoring setups.
The sFlow Tester collects and displays data from all sFlow packets received by a computer from an sFlow router. The user can see all crucial details about this data, helping them to test the configuration of their sFlow-capable routers so the administrator can quickly detect and resolve errors in the settings.
"We've developed this new freeware tool to be a diagnostic solution for PRTG users. It essentially pulls together the data of all sFlow packets a computer receives from an sFlow enabled router and shows how PRTG will handle them, which is useful in debugging bandwidth monitoring configurations," said Dirk Paessler, CEO of Paessler. "This is yet another tool we're offering our users to help them proactively and comprehensively monitor their networks in the interest of ensuring peak performance and availability."
In addition to sFlow sensors, PRTG also includes NetFlow and jFlow sensors so the user can monitor bandwidth usage on most common HP, Cisco and Juniper hardware. All flow sensors are included in every PRTG version, including the freeware, at no extra charge. Commercial licenses start at US $400.
The new freeware tool is available at www.paessler.com/tools/sflowtester as a free download.
