Plug & Play Network Monitoring For MSPs

The network monitoring solution PRTG Network Monitor enables the MSP to provide his customers easy to use network and website monitoring services. The industry leading solution provides end-users with network usage monitoring and continuous protection against problems caused by undiscovered downtimes.

PRTG Network Monitor can be run as a credential-based system. The MSP can set-up network monitoring and create different user accounts. Depending on his customer's needs he can give them full access to their sensors and groups so they can manage their monitoring on their own. Or the MSP just gives the customers read only access so that they can see their network monitoring data but not change any settings. Another option is to publish the monitoring results in a map on a website (e.g. in the customer's intranet).

Remote Probes Enable MSP Network Monitoring

Remote probes enable the MSP to monitor even locally distributed customer networks with one central installation of PRTG Network Monitor. The probes gather network monitoring data from the customer's network, transfer these data to the core installation at the MSP's server and the MSP gives his customers access to their data as described above.

Each license of PRTG comes with 3 remote probes which alllow the MSP to deliver network monitoring as a service for 3 customers with each license. The Enterprise Unlimited Site license is perfect for larger MSPs as it allows the installation of an unlimited number of remote probes together with multiple installations of the core server within one network. Thus the MSP is able to offer network monitoring as SaaS (Software as a Service) to an unlimited number of customers with only one license.

Publishing MSP Network Monitoring Data For The Customer

PRTG Network Monitor offers different ways to publish the customer's monitoring data:

• Maps
  Maps combine monitoring status, graphs and tables in customizable layouts and with customizable backgrounds like network charts or geographical maps. The MSP can create an unlimited number of maps. The layout is easily created using drag&drop from within PRTG's web interface.
  PRTG's "maps" feature is a unique concept that enables the MSP to create web pages with up-to-the-minute monitoring status information in a customizable layout. The maps can be published to the customer's intranet or in public with password access.

• Web-Interface and User Management
  PRTG network Monitor offers a comprehensive user management with rights and roles. The MSP can define read only but also write access for his customer, limited to the customer's sensors and groups so that the customer can access PRTG using the web-interface and request his monitoring data and (if wanted) even set up own sensors. By customizing the web-interface the MSP can offer the customer the access through a web-interface in the MSP's or even in the customer's look and feel.

• Reporting
  PRTG Network Monitor comes with comprehensive reporting capabilities. MSPs can generate reports in PDF and HTML format. The reports can be generated on the fly, they can be stored and also sent by email. The reports can easily be customized and thus sent out in the customer's or in the MSP's look and feel.

  PRTG offers multiple means of alerting such as email, SMS, pager message, HTTP request, event log, syslog, SNMP Trap, etc. It allows to alert either the customer in case of failures or bottlenecks or the MSP.
