Bandwidth Monitoring Using the PRTG Network Monitor Tools

The PRTG network traffic monitor can be used to monitor bandwidth latency and bandwidth consumption using SNMP, WMI, packet sniffing, NetFlow and sFlow. Depending on the technology used, the network monitor tools show all traffic going through a router or switch, or break down bandwidth usage by protocol, IP address or other parameters.

Availability Monitoring

PRTG is a great alternative to MRTG: apart from bandwidth monitoring, PRTG also offers advanced availability monitoring. The PRTG Network Monitor Tools

PRTG is available as a fully functional 30-day trial license and Freeware Edition, which is completely free of charge for personal and commercial use. The network monitoring freeware includes the full functionality (with the exception of NetFlow / sFlow support), but is limited to 10 sensors. The Commercial Editions are required if you want to monitor more than ten sensors, with licenses starting at just $400 / €300.
