PRTG Network Monitor: Centralized Memory and Processor Monitoring
Processor monitoring helps you to keep track of the loads that your servers and workstations are subject to. This enables you to avoid network overloads while making sure that resources are being used efficiently, and to approach troubleshooting proactively. PRTG Network Monitor is a comprehensive network management application, which can monitor processor and memory load, CPU temperature, hard disk health, and many other important system parameters. In addition, the network monitoring software traces bandwidth and network traffic, checks the availability of network devices and websites, monitors hardware such as printers and switches, tracks VoIP quality, etc. Thanks to its more than 130 different sensor types, the software can also be used as a free disk space monitor, syslog server, SNMP Trap receiver, and error monitoring tool.
How Does PRTG Monitor Processor Loads and Temperatures?
PRTG includes SNMP and WMI counters that show you your current processor load, as well as historic data. In order to avoid server overloads, you should configure alarms to warn you if the CPU load rises above a certain threshold for a certain amount of time, e.g. if it is higher than 70% for more than 10 minutes.
Monitoring CPU temperatures is possible if your motherboard supplies the appropriate MIBs. These can be imported into PRTG using Paessler's free MIB-browser.
Although PRTG needs to be installed on a Windows computer, the software is not restricted to being a Windows monitor: it can also monitor processor load, memory usage, etc. of other operating systems, such as Linux and Unix.
Processor Monitoring is Easy Using PRTG
It takes just a few simple steps to download, install, and set up PRTG Network Monitor: download the free CPU monitor now and start to monitor processor loads and get an overview of your whole network.
