System-Requirements

Although Webserver Stress Tool runs on all 32bit Windows versions (Win95, 98, ME, XP, 2000, NT, 2003) it is strongly recommended to run it on a Windows NT machine (XP, 2000, NT, 2003) because of the much more reliable IP stack.

Why: Win9x/ME have a built in limitation of 100 simultaneous socket connections. This limits  the number of simulated surfers you can employ when running a Webserver Stress Test.. You can try to change the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP\MaxConnections to the value 256 (if entry doesn't exist, you have to create it), but that doesn’t always help.

“Post-NT” Windows versions also offers a much more reliable and powerful multithreading architecture that Webserver Stress Tool utilizes when performing simulated user testing.
