How to make PRTG accessible by providing username and password in the URL?

Votes:

Hi,

Currently when we try to access PRTG via URL by providing the username and password, it throws the following error:

User-Login You must be logged in to access this page!

Here is the URL which we are passing: http://<prtg server name>:8080/group.htm?id=50&user=<username>&password=<password>

Thanks, Amar

password prtg url user username

Please use username instead of user, so your URL will be:

http://<prtg server name>:8080/group.htm?id=50&username=<username>&password=<password>

Additionally, please make sure the user has the necessary access rights to view the referred object.

What you also should keep in mind, if the username or password contains any "special characters" like # or $, the username and/or password has to be URLencoded.

so password=my#pasword becomes password=my%23pasword

URLencoding can be done online by sites as http://www.opinionatedgeek.com/dotnet/tools/urlencode/Encode.aspx

I dont know if its allowed to jump on a thread of 2010. But i think this is a security issue, and our company dont want URL's with Credentials. Is it possible to disable this feature? Regards Capo

Sorry, there's no option for this; it's not possible to remove this function without having consequences in how PRTG works.
