Does a remote probe need a static IP?

I'm setting up a remote probe on a heavily VLANed Cisco network. The static IPs and Dynamic ranges have long since been lost along with the cisco passwords. Is there any reason that the remote probe needs a static IP address.

Seeing as the probe connects to the core, the probe does not require a static IP address.
