Why do all the ping's drop sporadically?

Votes:

We have 600~ sensors and since a month or 2 ago all our pings have been dropping for a small window of time (less then a minute) All other sensors keep on working and there is no mention about anything happening in the logs.

I was wondering if you had any idea where to look/have an explanation. Obviously we want to fix this due to the fact that its kinda scary seeing 200+ red sensors.

Hello,

the only sensible explanation I think would be a firewall/flood-protection intervening there, which blocks all those Ping Requests at once. There are no sensor-type based scan-threads in PRTG, so it would appear on other sensors (SNMP for example) as well if it were a problem in the Probe.

best regards.
