Hi,

Can PRTG Network Montior show internet ussage by IP Address?

Like many home internet users I have many devices( computers, xbox, ipads,Playstation3 etc) accessing the internet. I can't determine what devices are using up my monthly usage. I assume you need SNMP to monitor usage. What home wireless routers ( e.g. linksys) would work with your product to display internet usage by ip Address?

Thanks,

Ken

Hello,

There is no simple answer to this question. The approach depends completely on the setup and topology of your network as well as the software and hardware used. Please have a look at the following article: http://www.paessler.com/knowledgebase/en/topic/2923-how-do-i-discern-excessive-bandwidth-usage-with-prtg

I'm afraid SNMP won't do the trick. You would need xflow or Packet Sniffing.

best regards.
