Hi,

I would like to check on how I can monitor the physical interface on my cisco switch, it seems like when the switchport goes up and down, there is no alarm on the prtg?

the standard traffic sensor allows you to set a switch to:

Monitor the connection state and show an alarm if the interface is disconnected (e.g. cable is unplugged)

If that switch is not turned on, by default a standard traffic sensor on a switch will probably never go into an error state.

The device you are sending the requests to is the switch not the port, and from the switch perspective just because there is no cable plugged in or there is no traffic does not mean that the port is not working!
