We want to be notified by email whenever our server loses connection with a remote probe i.e due to temporary internet issue. Currently we get many email alerts specific to sensors being down, but what about an entire probe losing communication? How best to configure that threshold?

The remote probe device should already inherit the notification from the root group.

If it does not, please create an error notification trigger for the probe device. See manual section Notifications for more details.
