Protected access to a device

I have an HP Procurve switch that is outside of the PRTG subnet. It is the gateway switch for my network to the Internet, therefore on the outside of the firewall. I have assigned an IP address to it and have given access a username and password. How can I make PRTG use this username and password when doing a scan while adding it to my core server as a new device? It is an SNMP capable device.

access password snmp

hallo,

can you access the device using SNMP at all,if it is outside your firewall?

SNMP credentilas (SNMP version and comunity string) can be configured per device if needed.

Go to the device settings in PRTG and change the SNMP credentials.
