Use a Google API Key with PRTG

In order to use the Geo Maps feature in PRTG, simply apply for an API key at Google. It's free!

  • Go to http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html
  • Confirm the terms and conditions and generate your API key
  • Copy your key from the website
  • Login to the PRTG web interface and from the main menu, select Setup | System Administration | System & Website.
  • Paste your key into the Google Maps API Key (required) field.
  • Done!

Background Information

For using the Google Maps API, each of our customers has to accept Google's conditions for it by applying for the (free) API key. This is an agreement between Google and our customers which we cannot affirm on behalf of our customers. That's why, as of PRTG version 8.3.2.2157/2158, we ask all customers to apply for an API key once.
