A new version of Webserver Stress Tool is available

February 8th, 2008

Today we have published a new version of Webserver Stress Tool (7.2.1) which is mainly a Maintenance Release and covers two bugfixes:

  • For HTTPS webpages downloading of images with relative image URLs used HTTP instead of HTTPS
  • Bugfix: Fixed some optical issues on Microsoft Vista

Users of the Commercial Edition with active Maintenance can download the update here.

Fiddler HTTP Debugging Proxy

Fiddler (by Microsoft) is an interesting HTTP Debugging Proxy which logs all HTTP traffic between your computer and the Internet. Fiddler allows you to inspect all HTTP Traffic, set breakpoints, and “fiddle” with incoming or outgoing data.

Load testing web applications that use Flash animations

Today we have received this typical question: “I’m trying to find a load testing product which would allow me to load test flash applications. I’ve tried webserver stress tool 7 and it doesn’t seem to enable me to simulate usage of a flash application. Can you tell me if this can be done, and if so, how? ”

“This program has been damaged…” messages when starting Paessler programs

If you receive the message “This program has been damaged, possibly by a bad sector of the hard drive or a virus. Please reinstall it.” when starting IPCheck Server Monitor, PRTG Traffic Grapher or Webserver Stress Tool then you either have a virus or trojan on your computer or a malfunctioning anti-spyware software.

Four seconds is the maximum time online shoppers will wait for a Web page

A web shop has 4 seconds to deliver its webpages according to a study from JupiterResearch that examines consumer reaction to a poor online shopping experience - or the customer goes someplace else. While a few years ago usability expert Jacob Nielsen suggested 10 seconds to be the maximum time obviously the growing use of broadband connections has pushed the limit even further.

The report ranked poor site performance as second only to high product prices and shipping costs as leading factors for dissatisfaction among online shoppers. While prices may not always be so easy to change the speed of your online shop can be checked and optimized with tools like our Webserver Stress Tool.
