The Browser War Revisited (Part 3): Which Browsers Do People Use Around the World?
The "Stats are based on aggregate data collected by StatCounter on a sample exceeding 4 billion pageviews per month collected from across the StatCounter network of more than 3 million websites." (quote). We have looked at the data and found the following interesting facts:
- Globally Internet Explorer 7 is still the leading browser with a market share of 36%, followed by Firefox 3 with 27%. Oh, and 21% of Internet users still use IE6. Sigh...
- Only 1.8% of surfers around the world use Google Chrome (and there are no big differences for this market share across continents).
- Believe it or not: In Europe usage of Firefox has passed Internet Explorer two weeks ago (led by Germany with a Firefox share of 55%).
- Internet Explorer 6 is still number one in Asia (36%) and Africa (44%).
