A detailed look at changes in PRTG Version 6

Since the last version 5.x we have applied so many changes to PRTG when working on version 6 that I can not mention them down to the last detail. I already mentioned the most notable changes in Thursday’s posting.

We know that many users are interested in a more detailed list, so here we go: Here is a list of most of the smaller, but still notable changes:

  • New: sensor wizard: hide ports with existing sensors
  • New: showing a wait-screen while initializing packet sniffer libary
  • New: gui remembers compact mode
  • New: added high compatibility option: force 32bit
  • New: added an “XP manifest” in order to apply full XP and Vista skinning to the Windows GUI
  • New: url is shown in the integrated webbrowser
  • New: added “advanced port name” in snmp tweaks
  • New: added latency for error notifications
  • New: order of toplists can be changed
  • Changed: standard system menu for taskbar popup
  • Changed: more export formats for reports
  • Changed: sensor edit dialog redesigned
  • Changed: custom sensors with negative results
  • Changed: Better error messages for snmp results 128, 129, 130
  • Changed: oid can be changed for library sensors
  • Bugfix: speed values in csv file
  • Bugfix: billing for sensors with byte units only
  • Bugfix: fixed scanning for snmp helper extension for ms sql server
  • Bugfix: right click in sensor tree below a node
  • Bugfix: display of a group with only one sensor
  • Bugfix: black lines for sensors with only one channel and “filled” enabled
  • Bugfix: width in webgraphs
  • Bugfix: hide legend menu for toplist
  • Bugfix: clear reportlist on loading of .prtg file
  • Bugfix: min/max axis value did not work on first right axis
  • Bugfix: in rare cases a program restart could cause peaks for packet sniffer sensors

And remember: There are even more bugfixes and smaller changes scattered throughout the whole program. Version 6 is definitely taking the PRTG product to a new level and everyone at Paessler is quite excited about it!
