Bandwidth Latency Monitoring
Monitor Network Performance by Measuring Bandwidth and Latency
Network performance, i.e. its speed and capacity, are defined by bandwidth and latency. In computer networking, bandwidth refers to the supported data rate (throughput) of a network connection or interface. Latency refers to a data packet's round-trip time (RTT), i.e. the time it takes a network packet to travel from source host to its destination and back. Bandwidth and latency are connected: bandwidth latency increases if too little bandwidth is available. In order to ensure good network performance, it is therefore important to monitor both bandwidth and latency.
PRTG Network Monitor is a comprehensive network monitoring solution. It includes a powerful PING utility that constantly checks latency. The bandwidth controller software uses SNMP monitoring, packet sniffing and NetFlow for detailed bandwidth monitoring. This combined bandwidth latency tracking helps you to identify bandwidth bottlenecks and to check if this causes intolerable bandwidth latency, or if latency is caused by other factors.
PRTG Network Monitor - More Than Bandwidth Latency Monitoring
Apart from being an advanced PING tester and a versatile bandwidth management tool, PRTG Network Monitor is also a comprehensive server monitoring software. It tracks the uptime, resource consumption, free disk space, etc., of servers and other network devices, checks whether your website is working correctly, and alerts you when downtimes occur.
